Synopsis: The story takes place in Karasuno Highschool with student Shoyo Hinata as the main character. Hinata is inspired by his idol the “Tiny Giant” and wants to win the Volleyball national championship. He soon realizes that Karasuno used to be a powerhouse volleyball team back in the day but now the school has just a shadow of its former glory. Since the school isn’t the same anymore, Hinata’s first goal is to assemble a volleyball team for them to compete.

Personal Review (Spoiler free): Haikyu!! may start off a little slow but after the 5th episode, things start picking up in pace and get more interesting. If I had to pick two categories Haikyu!! exceeds in, it would be the comedic aspect and character development. The comedic parts in this anime are very well timed and don’t get repetitive. The story telling in Haikyu!! is truly great. The reason why this anime can be a little slow paced in the beginning is because the directors take their time developing the world and characters. I immediately got more invested in the storyline because of Haikyu!!’s excellent characters. After a while, you feel attached to them and feel the emotions they go through. I think this is a solid anime to watch especially when you are starting to get into the genre.

Synopsis: Mitsuha Miyamizu is a high school girl living in rural Japan. She finds it very boring and wishes to move to Tokyo, so she wishes to be a boy living in Japan in her next life. Taki Tachibana is a high school boy living in Japan who is working to become an architect in the future. They wake up one morning, having switched bodies which they believe to be a vivid dream. But as it keeps happening, they realize they can communicate through notes and messages left on phones. Though things begin to get complicated when they try to meet up.

Personal Review (Spoiler free): While the movie is a romance, it doesn’t seem to have a lot of those cliched romance tropes. I really like that about the movie, and it was something new that I had never experienced before. The way the romance develops can be seen as realistic, and the characters’ development isn’t rushed. The storytelling during the bodyswaps is also really creative. The animation was well drawn and the perfect music accompanies the perfect scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and I believe it is a top tier film.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
